Membership, Renewal, and Donation Information

Welcome to Capital Area Guide Dog Users (CAGDU). CAGDU supports guide dog handlers through advocacy, education, connection, and community. We invite eligible individuals to join, renew their membership, or make a donation in support of our work.

About CAGDU

CAGDU is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of guide dog handlers throughout the District, Maryland, Virginia, and the United States.

CAGDU is affiliated with the American Council of the Blind (ACB), Guide Dog Users, Inc. (GDUI), and ACB of Maryland.

Meetings and Community

CAGDU currently meets quarterly on the third Tuesday of the month at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

Our members understand the important bond between guide dog handlers and their dogs. We celebrate when a member is matched with a new guide dog, and we support one another when a guide dog retires or passes away.

Who May Join

CAGDU welcomes members from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Individuals from other areas of the United States may also join if their area does not currently have a GDUI affiliate.

Annual Dues

$20.00 per person annually for regular membership.
$15.00 per person annually for ACB Life Members or GDUI Life Members.
